An M4V player is any multimedia player that can open an M4V file. While M4V files are similar to MP4s, they are usually used by Apple products, meaning that more specific software is necessary to open them in some cases. If you want to open an M4V file, the best video player for Mac is Elmedia Player, while Windows computers have a variety of options that will work for many different file types. While you may be tempted to look for an M4V online player or converter, these players are more convenient and packed with useful features.
Elmedia Player is our top choice for a video player for Mac that is capable of playing M4V videos on Mac smoothly and with no issues. It has a simple and aesthetically pleasing interface, can play a variety of video formats in addition to M4V files, and supports other types of media, such as music, in multiple formats.
Alternatively, once Elmedia Player is open, you can simply click and drag an M4V file into the player to open it. This works well if the M4V file you want to play is in an easy spot to access, such as your Downloads folder or your Desktop.
5KPlayer is a free multimedia player that can serve as an M4V player for both Windows 10/11 and Mac computers. In addition to supporting multiple file types for both videos and music, 5KPlayer allows users to watch HD and UHD videos. Users may also stream from 5KPlayer with AirPlay and DLNA options. 5KPlayer even has an option to download YouTube videos and music by URL.

The quickest option is to use a service like CloudConvert, which will let you upload the M4V and then choose a video format to convert to. Once the conversion is complete, you will be able to download your new file. The downside is that CloudConvert only allows for a small number of file conversions at a time, and it can be slow.
HandBrake is another option for converting files from one format to another, and it includes a section for codecs so that you can make sure your final video will be compatible with your chosen player. The interface looks confusing at first, but choosing a video and converting it is a deceptively simple process. HandBrake is available for both macOS and Windows computers.

Only the installers for Elmedia Player and Folx downloaded by users from the company's website contained the Proton trojan, an Eltima spokeswoman told me. "The built-in automatic update mechanism [of the applications] seems to be unaffected."
The security breach happened Thursday and was discovered relatively fast by ESET who reported the incident to the software developer. The malicious installers were available on Eltima's website for around 24 hours and were downloaded by almost 1,000 users.
Apple revoked the misused Clifton Grimm certificate after being alerted by ESET and Eltima, but users who downloaded and executed the rogue Elmedia Player and Folx installers before this happened didn't get a Gatekeeper warning.
There is some evidence that this new attack might have been perpetrated by the same attackers who compromised a legitimate download server for the HandBrake video converter application in May and distributed a malicious version of that program to macOS users.
I almost got there. There are 3 chapters to this MP4. The first one started plaing last night, and I'm not sure how I did it. Just now I dragged the ap onto the download and it says it is the right one, but it won't play it. I used both elmedia player and elmedia video player. Although it shows that is what is on there, neither one will actually play it.
Might I suggest this. Click on the file and press command+I (for Get info), in the box that opens up, there should be something about open with, and then choose Elmedia player, if that's what you want to use. I'm more of a fan of VLC. Opens darn near everything of that kind, and you might want to drag the elmedia player or the elmedia video player to the the Applications folder, or at least onto the Desktop. Usually that's how it works, you have to try to copy the app to somewhere before it'll start working, you can't just drag the file you want to play on to the downloaded app and hope it works

Proton malware was first discovered this year on the Dark Web being sold for just 40 BTC (USD 41891 at the time of sale). Proton is capable taking full control of a targeted device, keylogging, Observers with SMS notifications, SSH/VNC tunneling with VPS, webcam/screen surveillance, premium customer support, file uploadings, and downloads.
Those who downloaded Elmedia Player or Folx on 19th of October 2017, their system is likely to be infected with Proton malware. Another bad news is that the only way out is a full OS reinstall. However, the good news is that Apple has already revoked misused Clifton Grimm certificate. To verify if your system is infected, follow these steps: 2ff7e9595c
